About the Festival

GLASGOW FILMSTOCK is an international short film festival rooted in the creative spirit of Glasgow. Taking place in October 2025, the festival is dedicated to celebrating independent short-form storytelling across fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental genres.

Each year, a carefully curated selection of 20 films — under 40 minutes — offers audiences a unique cinematic journey through bold voices, fresh perspectives, and emotionally resonant narratives.

But GLASGOW FILMSTOCK is more than just a screening event. It's a one-day creative gathering designed to ignite dialogue, spark collaboration, and elevate underrepresented talent. We believe short films aren't stepping stones — they're fully-formed works of art.

In addition to its public showcase, the festival features post-screening discussions, a surprise curated block, and a strong focus on first-time filmmakers through our "First Flame" award. We also support emerging talent by partnering with local universities and film schools, offering a platform for student works and educational initiatives.

GLASGOW FILMSTOCK is where stories begin — and where audiences discover what's next.

Our Philosophy

"We believe short films are cinema at its most concentrated and vital."
"We believe in filmmakers who take risks."
"We believe in stories that feel real."
